Info for the BASL Spring 2012 Season
*Please read the entire portion of this section because there are several changes for the BASL Spring 2012 Season.
• League Description:
The Broward Academics’ Soccer League is a great opportunity for employees of the School Board of Broward County to exercise, socialize, and relieve stress in a fun yet competitive league. This coed 11 v. 11 is an open league, consisting of players of varying skill levels from beginner to advanced.
• Player Eligibility:
PLEASE NOTE: THIS SOCCER LEAGUE IS ONLY FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY. Any player that is not an SBBC employee MUST gain permission from the league director before registering for the league. If a player registers that does not meet these requirements, the registration fees will be refunded, a $15 penalty will be charged, and the player will not be allowed to play in the league.
• Player Registration:
Registration is done individually. When a player registers, he/she will be able to select a preferred team ( Last Year’s Black, Blue, Green, Pink, Purple, Red, Teal, or Yellow Team). New players or players that would be open to switching teams, should select “free agent”, and he/she will be placed on a team. Registration for each team will be capped at 20 players; therefore, you must be one of the first 20 players to register for your team to be placed on your team of choice. To make a request to play with a specific person or persons, please type your request under the “Additional Comments” section.
• Season Information:
Games will be played at Pine Island Park or Central Park in Plantation. Games will be on Friday evenings at either 6:15 or 8:00 p.m.; however, some games (like makeup or playoff games) may need to be played on Saturdays. There will be ten regular-season games and a post-season tournament for the top six regular-season teams. Each regular and post-season game will be ninety-minute games officiated by two or three referees.
• Conferences
Just like last season, the league will be divided into two conferences. The purpose of the conferences is mainly to determine the schedule. Each team will play the other teams in that conference twice (6 games) and will play the teams in the other conference once (4 games) for a total of ten regular-season games. As stated in the previous section, qualification for playoffs will be determined by overall record, not conference record. This season’s conferences will be as follows:
Conference 1
Yellow
Pink
Teal
Green
Conferences 2
Purple
Red
Blue
Black
