Broward Academics’ Soccer League Rules for Play

Game Play
1. The Broward Academics’ Soccer League will follow standard FIFA Soccer Rules and Regulations.

Player Conduct
1. There will be no slide-tackling. If a player slide-tackles another player, he/she will receive a card (the referee will decide whether to give a yellow or red card).
2. There should be no foul language.
3. There should be no unsportsmanlike conduct (including pushing, fighting, etc.).

Unsportsmanlike Conduct
The following are but not limited to be considered unsportsmanlike: yelling at the referee, wasting time, yelling at the opposing team, and fighting. If an unsportsmanlike act occurs after the match or reported a later time Joimo reserves the right to eject that player(s) from the next match. Referee and Joimo officials have total discretion of unsportsmanlike conduct.

Playing Time/Length of Game
1. Teams will play two forty-five minute halves.
2. Before the game, the referees and the team captains will meet to determine whether or not there will be a water beak halfway through each half.

Player Requirement
1. Each team MUST have a minimum of three (3) females on the field at all times; each team will play a MAXIMUM of eight (8) men
2. If a team does not have three females, that team must play a player down for each female player that is not present.
3. Teams can play with fewer than three (3) females if both captains come to an agreement (both teams should play with the same amount of females).

Player Uniform/Attire
1. Players are required to wear a team jersey (or a T-shirt of the same color), black shorts, shin guards, socks and (approved) cleats [i.e. metal spikes are not permitted].
*If possible, teams should try to wear the same color socks.
2. Jewelry and metal hair accessories are not permitted.
3. The goalkeeper must wear a jersey of a different color.

Adding Players
1. Teams will be allowed to add players to replace players if the players that are being replaced have not shown up for three games or there is an extenuating circumstance (i.e. a pregnancy, injury, illness, death, etc.). The addition to the team roster and player waiver must be submitted to the City of Plantation before playing in their first game.
2. Players that are added will be permitted to begin playing for the second half of the season (beginning Game 6); players must pay half of the registration fees or a prorated amount.
